Mark Kennett, 53, beamed for the camera when he was arrested for producing cannabis and possessing Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) with intent to supply.
But police had the last laugh when he was sentenced to 44 months behind bars at Maidstone Crown Court.
Kennett was caught with 690 LSD tablets worth £3,450 when his home was raided in Sittingbourne, Kent.
Police also found eight cannabis plants growing in his loft and nine more and a pot filled with herbal cannabis in a cupboard under the stairs.
A police spokesman said: “When people are arrested they are told to have a normal expression on their face but you will have some who refuse to listen and do what they are told.
“Some will do silly things like grinning and sticking their tongue out despite their
situation and the instruction.
“Efforts are made to stop them doing this but obviously we have to get a picture of them so it can’t always be done.”
